The Missourian Progress Awards recognize the people who help make Columbia a great place to live and move us forward every year.
For many years, the Columbia Missourian has produced a special section called “Progress.” The stories covered the biggest changes Columbia had made, the challenges it needed to meet and the people who helped move the needle. And so, with input from our Readers Board and community members, we started working on the Progress Awards: a community-driven, merit-based program to bring attention to the people and organizations doing the work but not necessarily getting the credit.
The winners, who we featured in this special section, are a fair representation of who we are, and what we strive to be.
This is our second awards program designed to lift up people who are engaged in our community and who may not be recognized for their contributions otherwise. Award categories range from civic engagement to sustainability to philanthropy — there's a category for everyone in our community. Winners and nominees will be recognized at the Progress Awards event and in a special edition of the Missourian in December.
